Even great games can include design errors. Here’s a list of things not to do. Each one is an egregious design error, although many of them have appeared in otherwise great games. ... A few people have complained that these mistakes are “obvious” -- but if they’re so obvious, how come they were in a game in the first place? And why do designers keep on making them?

From education, to the corporate workplace, to the scientific laboratory, failure is being embraced as desirable. With a growing cultural recognition of the value that mistakes play in the learning process, the gaming generation seems like a demographic that should be quick to take up the call to, “institutionalize the art of making mistakes,”
